A habit you skip costs you nothing.

A habit tracker you are allowed to skip. Habits only appear on the days you picked for them, and if today is not one of those days you tap Not today and the habit goes. It does not count as a miss. Your streak holds, your points do not change, and the habit is back on its next scheduled day.

Walk for an hour

Every day

Three days of one daily habit. Tuesday and Thursday are done. Wednesday is empty, and nothing about it is marked as failed, overdue or reset.

Three weeks of an actual life.

You know the shape of this one. A streak breaks, the guilt lands, and by day sixty the app is off your phone.

Here a missed day is an empty square, not a red one. A week away leaves a gap, not a backlog. There is nothing to clear before you start again.

You have quit apps before because coming back meant fixing things first. Here, coming back just means opening the app.

Three real weeks

Two weeks ago

5 of 7

Last week: didn't open it once. Nothing piled up.

This week

5 of 7

Your habits are exactly where you left them. The streak starts again.

A three week calendar. Five of seven days were done two weeks ago, none at all last week, and five of seven this week. Nothing on the calendar is marked as failed or overdue, and there is no backlog to clear. The streak starts again after the week away.

How a habit fits a week.

  1. 01

Only on the days it belongs

A habit can run every day, a few times a week, or once a year. Pick the weekdays and it only shows up on those.

  2. 02

    Not today, and it's gone

One tap hands the day back. It does not count as a miss, your points do not change, and your streak holds.

  3. 03

    Nothing turns red

A day you missed is simply empty. Habits never pile up as overdue, so a week away leaves a gap and not a list to clear.

A day you explain, or a day you hand back.

You already know how the other one goes. You miss one day, the number goes back to zero, and by day sixty the app is off your phone.

A day you have to explain

Back to zero

  • The day turns red
  • It waits for you tomorrow
  • Seven things to catch up on

The punishment is meant to motivate you. For this audience it reliably does the opposite.

A day you hand back

Not today

  • One tap and it is gone
  • Not counted as a miss
  • Back on its next day

A gap in the record, because that is what happened. You lose no points for it.

What it won't do

Being forgiving is not the same as fixing everything.

  • Forgiving is not the same as silent. A habit you haven't touched in three weeks still appears in the list, plainly, with the gap visible. Hiding it would be a different kind of dishonest.

  • There is a streak, and it can go back to one. It counts days you finished something, so a day you finish nothing at all restarts it unless you have a shield. Nothing else happens: no red, no penalty, and no notification.

  • It won't motivate you on its own. Removing the punishment removes a reason to quit; it doesn't add a reason to start. That's what the reward economy is for.

  • It isn't treatment, and it isn't a substitute for care. It's a productivity app built for how ADHD brains work, and nothing here claims a health outcome.

Questions

It hands the day back. The habit disappears from today, nothing is written down as a miss, and no points change. It is the answer for a habit that simply does not suit a Tuesday, and you can put it back with one tap.
The streak counts days you finished something, not days you did every habit. Finish anything and it carries on. Finish nothing at all and it starts again from one, unless you are holding a shield. You buy shields with the points you earn, so the good days pay for the bad one.
It works for some people. If a broken streak is what made you delete the last app, it will do it again. So you keep every point you earned here, and the streak is the only number that resets.
Everything is still there, exactly as you left it. Nothing expires, nothing is red, and there is nothing to clear before you start again. The streak starts from one, because that is what actually happened.
Pick the days it belongs to and it only shows up on those. A Sunday habit is not sitting on your Tuesday looking undone, and it does not count toward Tuesday's hours either. Leave the days alone and it stays daily.
Not until the day is. Habits you did not mark yesterday wait at the bottom of today's list, and one tap logs them for yesterday with the points they were worth. It only ever offers yesterday, because a log you can fill in a week later stops being a record of anything.
Archive it. It leaves your daily list and stops being something to tick, and every day it ever recorded stays in Patterns exactly as it was. Deleting it would take the history with it, which is a strange way to treat the one habit you actually finished. You can bring it back whenever you like.
Hand the day back. The button says Not today, the habit moves to a Skipped today list, and your streak does not move. Skipping is not finishing and the app never dresses it up as one. It is not a miss either. It is you deciding, which is the whole difference.

Come back on the day you don't want to.

That is the day this was built for, and no pile of missed days is waiting to make it worse.
