In the free plan

Get the thought out of your head in one tap.

One field, always on screen. No due date, no category, no project. Nothing required but the thought.

The capture bar: one field, a microphone, and a Capture button. Nothing else is asked for.

Say it or type it. Nothing else is asked of you.

If you cannot see it, you forget it. So writing something down has to take about a second.

Every field an app demands before it'll take a thought is a reason not to bother. So this one asks for none of them.

It goes into the brain dump and stays there. Sorting is a separate job for another day, and plenty of things never need it.

In the brain dump

No due date, no project, no category. Three taps, three thoughts, nothing to fill in.

Why it asks for nothing.

  1. 01

    The field is always there

You never have to go and find it. The field is on the screen you are already looking at, so the thought does not have time to disappear.

  2. 02

Voice, because typing is friction too

Hold the mic and say it out loud. People use this more than anything else, so it sits on the bar and not two menus deep.

  3. 03

The dump is allowed to be a mess

It is a pile, not an inbox you have to empty. You can tidy it with the paid AI tidy, or you can ignore it completely.

Eight fields, or one.

The gap between having a thought and writing it down is where most thoughts are lost.

What most apps ask for

Before they will take it

  • A due date
  • A project or a list
  • A priority and a tag

Every field is a reason not to bother. So you do not bother, and the thought is gone.

What Actto asks for

Nothing but the thought

  • Type it, or hold the mic
  • It waits in the brain dump
  • Sort it when you want to

Nothing you capture can ambush a day, because nothing reaches today until you put it there.

What it won't do

If it tried to be clever, you would have to check its work.

  • Capture is deliberately simple. It doesn't read a date out of your sentence, file by keyword, or guess a project, because anything that can guess wrong is a thing you then have to check.

  • It won't chase you about the pile. A brain dump with two hundred things in it gets no badge, no red number and no weekly email about it.

  • Voice capture needs a browser that supports it, and it works best in a quiet room. When it mishears you, you get an editable line rather than a silent wrong entry.

Questions

No. Things can sit in the brain dump forever and nothing will nag you. You only add the labels when you want a task to show up in "what can I do right now", because that is the only part that needs them.
Yes. Actto runs in the browser and works properly on a phone, so hold the mic and talk. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app, with nothing to download or update. Settings has a guide with the steps for your own device, and on Android and desktop it can install itself in one tap.
They stay exactly where you left them. Nothing expires and nothing is archived for you. Something you never gave a date to never turns up as overdue.
Undated things are grouped by area, so you can open one part of your life at a time. You can also shortlist up to ten as Up next, which sits at the top. Give one a date and it leaves the shortlist, because a date is the firmer plan.
Capture still works. What you write waits on your phone and sends itself when you are back online, with nothing for you to do. Whatever had already loaded stays readable.

Start by writing down one thing.

There is nothing to set up first. Type one thing you have been meaning to do, and the rest of the app builds around it.
